There are plenty of people who prefer workbenches with adjustable heights because there are some tasks that are better done sitting down while others should be done on foot. Besides, not all who use them are of the same height.
One of these types of workbenches is the Akro-Mils Adjustable Height Steel Top Workbench. The work height of this Akro-Mils model ranges from 30 to 40″. The work surface has a depth of 30″ while for the width you can opt for a 60″ or 72″ variation. Underneath the worktop are two shelves, one right below it, which is slanted, while the other is several inches above the floor.
The frame is made of heavy-duty steel with telescoping C-channel legs that allow height adjustment. The work surface is gauge 11 steel while the shelves are slightly thinner at gauge 12. To be able to hold a clamp or a vise, the work top extends about 1.5″ from the frame. The rear half of the worktop’s sides and the whole width of the back are wrapped with a raised steel railing to prevent items from falling off.
A steel rack is installed at the rear end of the worktop that can hold a 48 small- or 24 medium-sized AcroBins, plastic containers that can carry small hand tools and hardware materials such as nails, screws, or nuts and bolts. The slanted shelf below the worktop can also hold 6 large AcroBins which are intended for bigger tools and items. The shelf at the bottom can carry your power tools. The dimensions of the small bins are 7.38L x 4.38W x 3H inches; the medium bins, 10.88L x 5.5W x 5H inches; and the large, 10.75L x 8.25W x 7H inches.
To resist corrosion and for a shiny look, the Akro-Mils Adjustable Height Steel Top Workbench is powder coated with a grey finish. The legs are equipped with anchor pads keeping the workbench in a fixed position.
