Sporting a simple yet elegant design, the Black & Decker Model BG103119K Base Cabinet looks almost too good for the garage, and is more suited for the office instead.
The base cabinet is made of engineered wood, making it both sturdy and environmentally friendly. Its top consists of Black & Decker’s trademarked Armor Work Surface, which is designed to the take the punishment commonly inflicted on a garage workbench. It is an inch thick to provide extra strength, and it even incorporates a backsplash, both to prevent your tools and the things you are working on from falling off the worktop, and to prevent oil and other chemicals from getting on your garage walls.
The cabinet’s rear panel, however, is of high quality cardboard laminate. Its edges are fitted with impact resistant material to protect it from the almost inevitable bumps and blows from your tools while working.
Underneath the worktop is a stack of three drawers, the top of which is shallower than the other two. Even the shallowest drawer, however, is deep enough to store plenty of hand tools, from hammers, through wood and hacksaws, screwdrivers, pliers, chisels, to wrenches. The other two drawers are also large enough for your pneumatic and electric tools such as nail guns, circular saws, planers, or angle grinders. Of the three drawers, only the topmost has a locking mechanism.
Each of the drawers can carry loads of up to 50 pounds. Even when laden with this weight, the drawers can still be easily opened as they run on metal glides. Metal handles finished in chrome and edged with hard plastic are installed for opening. The drawers are fully extendable providing easy access even to those items stored at their rear sections.
The cabinet is elevated with four posts to keep your tools from oil or other chemicals that may be spilled on the floor. These also have levelers to cope with uneven garage floor surfaces.
