Open shelf storage systems have the advantage of immediate visibility, easy access, and full ventilation. On the other hand, closed cabinets offer more security (a feature that is fully appreciated if you have to store toxic items and you have kids and pets), avoid dust build-up, and provide a tidier look if you cannot organize your various stuff.
The Car Guy Garage All-Welded Storage Locker was created to provide the best features of these two systems. Instead of a cabinet constructed of solid materials, it uses a mesh constructed out of 13 gauge metal for its doors and walls. The metal mesh consists of ¾” x 1½” diamond-shaped openings allowing the free flow of air inside. Moisture, mildew, and molds are thus prevented from accumulating. Also, foul odors emitted by some stored chemicals are immediately dissipated. The shelves themselves, though, are of solid steel.
You will still be able to immediately locate what you need except that you have to open doors to get to them. With these doors, however, when fitted with locks, you can be assured that dangerous items are kept out of your children’s reach. In an effort to make storage and retrieval as easy as with open shelves, the doors are designed to open up to 270°.
There are several variations of the Car Guy Garage locker. They come in two widths, 48″ and 60″. Depth at 30″ and internal height at 72″ are the same for all versions. Also, all have a 4″ clearance at the bottom to facilitate moving with a forklift or pallet truck.
Shelving comes in three types. The first type is the two full-width adjustable and removable shelves providing you with flexible storage options. A third fixed shelf is at the bottom. Another type is the two half-width adjustable and removable shelves and one fixed bottom; the other half of the locker does not have any shelf where you can keep tall items. The third type has three fixed shelves. All three types can either be 48″- or 60″-wide.
