Arguably, tools are among man’s best friends, perhaps next to dogs. Every time he needs to fix something –a loose tile, a stuck window, a flat tire, busted lamps, or loose wires– he will first look for his tools. However, he won’t be able to find them unless he keeps them organized and stowed in a secure storage area, like the Extreme Tools Ten-Drawer Top Chest EX2607CH.
Tool chests from the Extreme Tools are not called “extreme” for nothing. They are extremely tough and sturdy storage systems as they are constructed out of 11 gauge steel. This results to a strong chassis capable of supporting heavy loads. Because of the heavy gauge of the steel, spot welds are barely visible.
The top lid opens to a tray while below it are 10 drawers in columns of five. The lid is supported by two gas struts that make it easy to open and at the same time prevents the lid from slamming down. You can keep your favorite and most-used tools on the tray, or perhaps plans and sketches of proposed projects.
The drawers come in two sizes –five measure 34.5 inches wide and 3 inches high, while the other five are 17.125 inches wide and also 3 inches high. All drawers run on ball bearing slides. The fronts of the drawers have double steel walls while the backs are designed to be rigid. The combination these provide excellent strength and weight-holding capacity for the drawer. Support brackets are spot-welded on the drawers’ undersides further reinforcing them.
Polished chrome handles open the drawers to their full length for free access even to their rear. The insides are equipped with drawer liners to keep the tools in place and for protection from scratches and dents. A locking mechanism consisting of a spring-loaded latch lever and lock bar is installed to secure the drawers.
