Kennedy Machinists Chest Model 52611

Machinists need plenty of tools to practice their profession. As they modify different materials, including metal, wood, and plastic, they need to cut, mill, abrade, smooth, or drill them to precise measurements.

In order to be able to keep track of all their tools instead of losing them in a pile of small metal devices, machinists need to arrange them in an orderly manner. One way to do this is to store their tools in a Kennedy Machinists’ Chest Model 52611.

The chest, made of steel finished with a brown wrinkle, has overall measurements of 26.75″ for its width, 8.5″ for its depth, and 18″ for its height. The top is a lid that opens to a till with a depth of 3.25″. Its hinges are fitted with stainless steel pins that are staked. This prevents the removal of the lid. Below this are 11 drawers of different heights and widths, but they are all of the same depth of 7.5″.

Immediately below the till and in the middle of the chest is a drawer measuring 5.5″ W x 4.375″ D. On its left side are four 8.625″ W x 1.0″ D, while on the left are two of the same size and one 8.625″ W x 2.0″ D drawers. The remaining three drawers run the width of the chest measuring 24.75″. The topmost of the three has a depth of 1.5″, the next has 2.25″, while the bottom drawer has 3.125″. With these drawer sizes, you can store tools of different dimensions.

Your tools are secured by a drop-front panel that covers the drawers when in storage. It is constructed with a double wall for added strength. When you are at work and the tools are being used, the panel can be inserted in a slot at the cabinet’s base.

Each of the drawers runs on a two-piece I-beam drawer slide that allows full extension. Liners of wool felt are incorporated in all drawers to help keep your precision tools clean and free from corrosion.

The side panels are double-walled. Since the drawer slides’ carriers are anchored to these panels, the weights of the drawers are transferred to the chest panel.
