It is equipped with a locking mechanism to safeguard your things. The internal locking system is tamper-proof and cannot be reached by hacksaws or bolt cutters.
For ease of bringing your tools to where your work is, four 5″ x 2″ black polypropylene roller bearing casters are fitted at the bottom panel of the cabinet. Two of these have brake locks to assure stability while it is stationary and to guarantee that it will not roll away even in an earthquake. The other two swivel for easier maneuvering. To help you in steering it when in motion, a heavy-duty tubular handle is mounted on the cabinet’s right side.
The top, bottom, and back panels are constructed from heavy-gauge steel. These are welded to the side panels which are made of double walls. This provides a solid structure to the cabinet allowing it to sustain heavy loads.
The seven drawers are of identical depth and width but they have different heights. Depth is at 18.5 inches while width is 25 inches. The top three drawers are 2 inches high, the next three, 4 inches, while the bottom is 6 inches. You can keep small and thin hand tools at the 2-inch drawers like spanners, screwdrivers, or pliers. The mid-sized drawers can take hacksaws, socket wrenches, or hammers. The bottom drawer can handle power tools like nailers, sanders, or drills.
The drawers have an interlock safety feature that does not allow the simultaneous opening of two drawers. This is a safeguard against tipping the cabinet because of the combined weight of the contents of several opened drawers.
All drawers are fitted with snap-in ball-bearing slides for convenient opening and closing even when fully loaded. They also have aluminum dividers for a more organized storage.
Overall dimensions of the Kennedy Seven-Drawer Roller Cabinet Model 297 are 29″ W x 20″ D x 35″ H. Model 297 is finished with a smooth red paint. A wrinkled brown version is available as Model 277.
