If your garage is already of full of your tools, equipment, or other things that cannot be stored inside your main house and you still have some more stuff coming in, don’t despair. You can always look up for an answer. It doesn’t have to be up to heaven, just up your ceiling.
Built by Racor Home Storage Products, the ProStor Heavy Lift Overhead Storage is suspended from the ceiling by two strong parallel steel support beams. At the ends these beams are four pulleys, each of which supports vinyl coated steel cables attached to a 4 ft x 4 ft platform. The other ends of the cables are wound around a winding axle that is connected and is perpendicular to the two beams. A long hand crank that can be hooked to a ring on one end of the axle allows the hoisting or lowering the platform.
The ProStor Heavy Lift has a capacity of 250 lbs. You will, however, need to evenly distribute the weight of its load. It can carry file boxes, some big tools, kayaks, canoes, tires, ladders, or outdoor furniture. Since the platform lowers eight feet from the support beams, the ProStor can be installed on a ceiling of up to 12 feet. This means that the platform would be at its lowest level at four feet, a height at which loading is still convenient. If this gets any higher, loading your things, especially the heavier ones, could be difficult.
