Often there are so many things we store in our garages that they are so quickly filled up. We have to utilize all the available space in there from the floor, through the walls, and up to the ceiling. The Harken Hoister system is one way of using the space above our heads.
There are several variants of the Harken Hoister. One is the Model 7800 one-point utility lift which consists of one self-locking pulley suspended from the ceiling. Once the rope is released, a safety cleat is engaged locking the load. This pulley is lightweight and it rotates on ball bearings making lifting smooth and vibration-free. It can lift loads of up to 20 kg and is ideal for bicycles, aluminum ladders, and other gardening equipment.
Another model is the 7807 which is a two-point lift. Using two of the same kind of pulleys as in the 7800, this lift can handle a weight load of 27 kg. Heavier and longer items such as car seats or small rubber dinghies can be bound and lifted with this model.
A third variant is the four-point model, which is sub-classified into the 7801, 7802, 7803, and 7806. These can lift 27, 41, 66, and 91 kg respectively and can easily handle truck canopies and vehicle roof-mounted sports equipment carriers. They can also be used to lift a Hoister storage shelf.
The Hoister shelf is made of 4′ x 8′ x ½” plywood that is strengthened with braces of pine wood. Steel deck screws connect the pieces of wood for a secure hold, while four steel eyebolts serve as connecting points to the Harken Hoister. You can store practically anything on the shelf. Just stay within the load limit and you are assured of a clutter-free and even roomy garage with enough room left for your vehicle.
